The WORST feeling is feeling like you were taken advantage of I've decided.
Chris and I were on our way back to Knoxville when a man came up and asked us for gas money. Usually when people ask me for money I don't give it to them but there was something thy convinced me. Between the 2 of us, we gave the guy $28 and told him to "pay it forward."
Feeling pretty good about helping someboy's dad/husband/son get to Knoxville we strolled into the gas station. Come to find out after hanging out at the gas station for a minute the guy bought $8 worth of gas, a pack of cigarettes and pocketed the rest of our money and drove on his merry way.
Obviously we were angered, hurt & disappointed. Going from feeling like you're really helping somebody to completely screwed over hurts.
But the fact of the matter is - we both have learned from this. And believe it or not I'm not even bitter! Here's why:
It's just money. Really our possessions on earth mean absolutely nothing. And people are going to let me down.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21
