Bring it, 2015.

I LOVE New Year's. This year though, I'm super thankful for an awesome 2014, and looking forward to all of the exciting things happening in 2015.

In 2015, (besides being a stellar wife), I hope to be more creative, and find a hobby that I truly enjoy (and make an effort to make time for that hobby). I'm also looking forward to completing my first half-marathon in April (I'm only "half-crazy!")

Cheers to my last New Year's as a Daughtrey!

Jason Mraz

JUNE 9, 2011: 0 days
When Chris and I met in England, he was the “kid who forgot his iPod.” In sort-of a weird form of flirting I guess, he took my iPod and put a bunch of music on it and we shared headphones on buses, trains, etc. I’m convinced now that he just used this as an excuse to sit next to me. (How cute, right?) I’m pretty sure he put every single Jason Mraz song that was out at the time in there, so we travelled across England with Jason the whole way.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2011: 108 days
When we were back in Knoxville at college, we found out that Jason Mraz was playing ONE SHOW that year, in Portsmouth, VA – ON A SUNDAY. Womp. But we went to the show, danced and sang, and drove the eight hour journey back overnight to make it to class Monday morning. Was it worth it, absolutely.

Changing stories a bit, (it’ll all make sense, I promise) I haven’t done a blog post about this yet, but Chris proposed to me at the historical Ryman Auditorium this past April. The Ryman is one of the most magical places in the world to see a show, and with our mutual love for Nashville it exceeded my expectations of a dream proposal.

Last night, we saw Jason Mraz at The Ryman. It felt like it all had come full circle. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life (I only cried twice). As I was sitting next to Chris, I kept thinking about how lucky I am to have such an incredible love story, and Jason sings it quite well! The entire show was paired with Raining Jane, an all-girl band from UCLA. Their harmonies paired with Jason’s vocals, made for an truly unforgettable evening.

Half-Crazy

Last week I signed up for my very first half-marathon.
I toyed around with the idea last year, but when I was bummed that I wasn't participating on race day, that's when I knew 2015 was my year.

So with that said, here's to miles and miles of training and a check off the ole bucket list.

SO...a lot has happened since my last post.

I traveled to San Franscisco and Napa Valley with my grandfather and my mom.

Officially moved to Nashville and got a job! And Chris started his first year at Vanderbilt Law School!

CHEERS to a first successful month in Music City, USA.

summer of travels

"Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it's a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living." - Miriam Beard

Well, my summer of travels have come to a close. I was fortunate enough to backpack through Europe for three weeks with my brother and Chris, and then go to California on a trip with my grandfather and mom after I moved back to Nashville!

My trip to Europe was a once in a lifetime experience. We traveled to ten cities in three weeks and saw some pretty amazing things. Here are the highlights from each city!

The worst part of the trip...was of course leaving. :(

Leaving Knoxville

My time in Knoxville is ticking down. But it's not time to get sentimental yet. Here are a few things that I'm going to miss the most about living in the 865.

  • Farmer's Market in the spring and summer
  • Being able to walk from one end of downtown to the other
  • That contagious "Volunteer Spirit."
  • The Tennessee River
  • Tomato Head, Nama Sushi, Copper Cellar, oh and Coolato Gelato!
  • Being so close to the Smokey Mountains

Meet Henley

I am proud to announce that I am a proud owner of a new dog!!!!

I wasn't planning on adopting a little nugget anytime soon, but it was one of those things that just worked out. To make a long story short, it was love at first sight and she's already brought me so much joy!

Welcome, Henley!
